1982 GPZ1100B2 questions was created by Claude.
Yesterday, I chatted with a guy that intends to sell his 1982 GPZ1100.
The bike is currently stored (since 6-7 years) in a garage (surely unheated) not accessible during winter time. It still have the EFI system (so not converted to carbs). The guy said it worked perfection when he stored it and that it started easily every spring after each winter hibernation. Said also it is in very good condition for a 40 years old bike. He said he would price it accordingly to the fact it will or not start easily next spring.

Is this bike worth buying? I’m a bit concerned about EFI.
Any comment please.
What would be a fair price for such a bike? Please mention currency as US and CDN dollars do not have the same value.
Thanks!!

I mentioned the guy I know who has three or more GPz1100s.
One of his red ones is still using the EFI, the others converted to carbs.
His family had a Kawasaki dealership I believe for a number of years.
Chris Manley is his name.
He used to race in his younger days.
If he likes the GPz1100s, I'm sure they are a good reliable bike.

Chris is mentioned here:

Condition is everything when it comes to 40 year old bikes. Some guys say it's in great condition and when you actually see it there's a rattle can paint job, corroded brake system and chain, etc. Bottom line, unless you get the proper perspective on the condition it's almost impossible to judge value. Low end, parts bike, $700. Top end, (guessing) $7000.

I spoke with the owner yesterday. He originally contacted me because he saw my "Wanted" ad on Marketplace and Kijiji.
He had his GPZ for many years now but did not ride it in the last 6-7 years and he will not have time anymore (too bush and having others summer hobbies).
He told me that there are some spare parts coming with it including a second OEM exhaust system and maybe a 4-1 (he do not remember).
Told me it is original paint an seat cover is not teared up.
In about one month, the garage where it is stored will be accessible. I will call him then and schedule a trip to see it (it is about 1¼ hour from my place).
When I asked him about the price, he said: I did not thought about it yet but, for sure, it will be less than $1000.00
I told him I want his bike to give it its former glory and I think he like this idea pretty much and maybe why he will sell it cheap.

It would not have to be too good to be worth $1,000. !982 GPZ1100s are very nice motorcycles, I bought one new in 1983. The styling still looks good IMO (everybody has one right!) Not a big deal to switch to carbs if you want to go that route. I sold mine to a buddy in the Marines, he rode it to California from NE. When he got a re-enlistment bonus he took it to the Vance and Hines shop and had a 1200 kit, cams and carbs installed.

Anxious to see some pictures! Mike

$1000k for a gpz1100 in good condition is a steal especially if it’s all complete.

That's what I think also.
Will only be able to see it when some snow will have melt; possibly in mid april.
The guy told me LESS than $1000. I expect about $700-$900. Time will tell.

I'm actually looking and searching everywhere for those four bikes:
1984 KZ1100R
1983 KZ1000J3
1982 GPZ1100
1981/1982 KZ1000J
Because the 1982 GPZ1100 I found is on my WTB list, it is not my intention to sell any of those four bikes I could find. Things can change though so let's see in time what will happen.
