Thanks guys! It's been a long haul but it looks like it will finally be on the road this summer. We're pretty happy with how it turned out.

Only downside is that my son still has 6 months on his A2 license so we need to knock it down to 48HP for a while. Next season we can put the Zephyr to the test, though :) He may even be heading out for a ride only to find out that his bike has been "borrowed" ;)

Ready to clean up the transmission. One of the circlips didn't survive the disassembly so need to wait for a new one before I can put it back together.

I'm just hoping at least one of these bikes is done before the wife's mini goes back in the garage to have the bottom-end and clutch done

I would like to make a video of the final assembly of this build - when all the parts are done and everything has been painted. I figured it should include the engine build. The crank is already in but I filmed the assembly of the gears today. Will probably have to cut some content out or the final cut will be an hour long!!

I need to work on my camera angles ;)

I was getting all the parts together for the bottom end today. I have a MK2 alternator cover with a MK2 (or similar) stator. I got the stator with an adapter plate for the standard A1 cover (see the pic below) and a rotor from a different model. The rotor looks like it could be from a 750 (E1, H1, ...). It fits on the taper of the KZ1000A1 crank. Does anyone know which later model you can take the alternator from for an A1 if you just swap out the cover?

Adapter plate:

Here's a pic of the conversion kit (I picked it up cheap on ebay but I'm pretty sure it's this kit):
