I got the 16mm due to the smaller size of my Spondon & the OEM calipers on the GPz.
God willing & the creek don't rise, I will get to try them out in earnest over the weekend

Gawd, I'm starting to hate eBay! Thanks to the evil-bay, we now have 83-84 GPz 750 wheels coming for the Mrs. bike. 2.15 x 18 for the front (same size as the OEM rear!) and a 3.00 x 18 for the rear.

My credit card needs another time out!

Slayer, sorry I might not have been clear, I wasn't referring to the wheels but the Brake master cylinder, Radial master cylinders ala Brembo are expensive and the Radial off a GTR1400 do more or less the same job (not sure how the bore sizes compare BUT it works)

First Permanent ride the Z1R since Dec1977 (220,000km) as of June 2015
Second permanent bike 1989 FJ1200 dyno'd 140RWH, great bike.
Third ride is now the Frankenstein 1981 GPZ1100B1, 1983 fully recon motor fitted LOVE THIS BIKE
Forth my work bike FJ1200 1989 (same type as FJ above)

Thanks Bozo,
It's just a personal thing. Brakes are important enough that my first choice is new from a reputable mfgr, followed by overhaul MY OEM parts. Mrs. slayer also wanted an adjustable lever & liked the adjustment on mine.

ETA: We now have brand new components mounted up from the Braking M/C, through Z1E sourced Goodridge hoses down to where calipers will live in the future

Sorry, no pictures to add yet, but the new (to us) wheels showed up last night and much to my surprise, the original cush drive & rubber fit the new wheels! Woot! :woohoo:

So it turns out the front axle from the '81 is the same size as the '84. Bonus. The rear axle from the 81 is NOT the same size as the rear axle from the '84.
dammit.
New wheel bearings added to the long list of shopping still to do. Stay tuned!

Rain on Sunday, so I got to spend some time in the garage. Got the rear brakes completely removed & disassembled. Nothing out of the ordinary. The usual quagmire of grime, filth & muck. Air and soaking required to get pistons out of bores. Biggest surprise was the Tokiko name on the (badly worn) rear pads. 1981 originals, was my best guess.

Be safe everybody & Merry Christmas!

Oh ya. I ordered 3 new rotors off of evilbay & 2 of the 3 were cancelled due to one thing or another.,,,,,,,,

My wife has [strike]stubby little[/strike] shorter than average fingers. As a result she was attracted to my radial master cylinder on the Suzuki. After installing another radial master on her GPz with the adjustable lever, I found a matching clutch lever for her. She is pretty excited about it!

So the majority of the front end components have arrived & dry fitted for the first time. Pretty excited that the wheel & brakes from an '84 bolted right up to her '81. Small issue with the speedo drive, but I'm sure evilbay has what I need.
The fender stands a little tall of the 18" front wheel, but she's not opposed to it. I offered to drop it down a little, but she likes it as is... for now.

Also set the GS swingarm in for the first time. There is a little interference with the battery box/brake stay, but nothing a hacksaw won't fix.

Be safe guys.

So evilbay came by with another part for the bike. All rotors sourced now

Not noticeable is the front speedo drive that was needed to drive a (future) mechanical speedo.

Also! New helmets have arrived to replace the old outdated models from 2008, or whenever was the last time I bought helmets.
