Hi Purchased Christmas day a 1981 Z750 FX III . This is my first restoration project of any kind but plan to restore her to an original Z750 E2.
If my research is correct the only difference between a FX3 and a E2 is the tank and seat. I prefer the more tear doped style of tank on the E2. If anyone can confirm this I would appreciate it.
Also I believe the FX3 were a Japanese model, this it must be a import into New Zealand where I live.
The bike looks complete and has 63,000 Km's on the clock.

Welcome to the forum! I can't attest to the differences between those models, but I do have a 1981 KZ750-E2 that I am currently working on (mine is a resto-mod though). I look forward to watching your progress!

Hi. I'm not sure about the FX, but I'm restoring a 750H1 at the moment. Trying to keep it as original as possible so have built up a decent knowledge of the stock parts (in case you want to compare something). As far as I know there isn't much difference between the E1/H1 and the E2/H2 so Skidmark's bike should be pretty close (except the dodgy Honda front end :P ).
I also have accumulated a few spares over the last year. If you're trying to track down some parts let me know and I can maybe chuck them in with the next parcel I send back home (ChCh).

Thanks Calum I keep that in mind. I'm pretty good at the moment. When funds allow I'm in the market for a E2 tank.
My frame is KZ750E-012001 which is that same as a E2 and FX3
Are you in Chch, If so when mine is complete we should meet up for a ride someday .

Hi Skidmark. I followed a link in another topic and purchased a Kawasaki Cross reference pgm which look really useful. www.zedder.com
It identifies parts from your model to all other existing Kawasaki models which are identical.

Looking good! If you hit the insert button when you've uploaded the photos they will appear directly in the post.
Unfortunately I'm a long way from Christchurch - I live in Germany. Will be back home one day, though...

Received parts for repairing my starter clutch today. This is what I found.
Thankfully when I purchased the bike the previous owner gave me some spares, which included a housing, So was able to replace along with the kit I received from the US
