I just had to smooth out some of the cases, now I'm deep into sanding, and eventually polishing some more.I save my once used sandpaper from my woodworking projects for custom sanding deals like this. a bolt with some washers and a nut.

600 sand and rough cut, looks pretty close to me.Going to paint jugs, oilpan, and valve/cam cover all black.still trying to decide the original flat or a little more sheen.I will shark hide the polished aluminum when done.

Got the primer and base coat down, Im going to pack and ship jugs/piston and crank, head to APE after one more polish to the head.Everything will get one more buff and coat after all is back and I have done all touchups needed.I think I'm going to paint the oil pan as well as the carb rack and some small parts and polish the rest.I really like the look of the 26mm carbs but would like more performance out of the has anyone done the bore to 29mm on these? Well you can tell me if you think its sacrilegious or if its a good chop representation of the beloved Z1.I have seen some of the quality builds on here and can handle some options thrown at me that I probably have not seen from my end.

I believe the bore will stay the same( Ape will tell me), and now I am trying to decide to keep the 26mm carbs. My other obvious option is some vintage 29mm or some of the 34 mm CSR. Will I regret not just getting the CSR's? any opinions? Thanks all

I got the frame almost ready for welding up the shit mess that was there.Lots of builders should not be allowed to use body filler, damn the frame will be lighter after I add steel where they had bondo for crying out loud.

Wow. I suppose in some places a bucket of Bondo is substitute for welding skills.

I just had to mold the frame and fix the ugly from before.I will SKIM with filler, not BUILD with filler. lots of plate steel and welding/ grinding.

As long as you are improving the frame, I would be strongly inclined to add a cross brace between the highway pegs, or at least in that neighborhood. Kawasaki added two cross braces there to the police bikes.

Coming along very nicely. Sweet polish on that motor.

Hey, at least your guy didn't use bondo to repair holes in a gas tank. :(

I completely agree with your recommendations after seeing that photo!Wow on the bondo tank fix,I always hope it was an inexperienced builder rather than a shitbird but not likely. I am a chopper guy but not meth head with a death wish so thanks for the shared wisdom!
