So since I was in town, I dropped by the paint shop to take some progress pictures (since I forgot last time!). He was just calling me when I walked in to tell me it was all ready!

Your right ā€œit happenedā€! And very well at that.

As far as vapor blasting it high pressure water with a sand slurry mixture. No Temperature involved. If you can find someone to vapor blast your cases you will be amazed at the finish. Itā€™s also called vapor honing

Love the lime color sheme, calum is right, a satin black gloss colored engine is the way you have to go.

The plan is all black, with some cylinder head fins filed, and the text on the valve cover and side case covers sanded as well. Just the highlights that make sense.

I got the top case back from the hot dip tank. Definitely took care of all the oil residue. As far as cleaning the painted surfaces, not so much...

Now comes all the single sided razor blade work to get the block gasket off. Wish my fingers luck! The bottom case will be ready Monday. I'm still ordrring the last few bearings and bushings. It will take some time getting the painted surfaces prepped anyway.

The easy side is done.

The outside is going to need a lot of work before it's ready for paint.

If you can find someone to glass bead blast it would be worth the money in the time savings. It or vapor blasting result in a great surface to start with.
