Beautiful bike! Very nice job on the paint.

And yes, we definitely had those in the United States, in 1983, along with the 700 version in 1984 (the first year of the tariff bikes), with two stripes instead of three. The 550, 750, and 1000 versions of that paint scheme (all 1983 I think) had the displacement on the tail graphics. The 700 just had stripes on the tail, probably because they didn't feel the lower displacement was a selling point. They are still my favorite paint schemes.

The 750L1 and 750L2 were slightly different from the L3. As Ed said, the 83 L3 was basically the second year version of the 82 750R1 (gpz).

I assume Kawasaki basically borrowed the paint scheme from the TC bike.
I can't find any other photos or information for that Kz1000 with "1000" on the tail.

Note the Kawasaki marketing photos don't show the mirrors.
