Single Carb Manifold For A Kawasaki Z-1 A VM 44mm was created by bobgilldaredevil
Anybody out there know where to find a manifold for a Z-1 Kawasaki to use a single VM series 44mm Mikuni Carb? My Z-1 is now a 1200 built by MRE in Florida with 4 Flat Slide 34mm carbs that run very radical at stop lights, rpm up & down. I want a single carb that runs smooth but also have good performance. "HELP" Please :-)

Have you looked into getting better performance from the current carburetors? Has MRE offered any advice? such as adding air filters or an airbox, then retuning the carburetors? I don't know much about this sort of thing.

ps: most folks would make a manifold. ss. copper. etc. In your case, polished ss.

Thanx for the reply, MRE has been very helpful with the carbs, I just want to go to a single carb and get rid of the idle problem in traffic. All is good.

Will never happen with a performance based motorcycle engine.
Learn how to tune your carbs.

Remember that when the bike was brand new, it performed just fine throughout the full range of throttle.

A steady low rpm idle with strong pull-away may usually be achieved by addressing the following:

Assure throttle cable is in good condition, lubed, not frayed, and routed without kinks
Assure sufficient play in throttle cable
Assure carb slides are fully down when throttle is closed
Adjust valve clearances
Assure compression is acceptable (compression test)
Remove and disassemble the carbs and clean the pilot circuits
Perform bench sync
Remove and flush-rinse the fuel tank
Clean the petcock filter screen
Install an aftermarket in-line fuel filter
Assure correct fuel levels (clear tube test)
Install brand new NGKB8ES spark plugs
Replace old hard cracked worn-out plug wires
Assure there are strong fat blue sparks on plugs
If stock points, assure contacts are clean (dress if necessary) and gapped per specs
If condition of points is in question, could replace the entire points plate
Or replace points with Dyna-S electronic ignition
Assure ignition timing is spot on
Perform running sync
Tune pilot air screws

Much of this is covered in the FSM (Factory Service Manual).
If needed, an FSM is available in KZr's FILEBASE.
I believe that most of us happy and contented owners perform our own maintenance.
And we can offer additional tips regarding further details and techniques.

Good Fortune! :)
