I bought a piece of aluminum 3/8" c-channel to help with sprocket alignment. (Thanks to NakedFun for the idea!) The 530 sprocket is slightly narrower than the inside of the channel. I gently squeezed one end of the channel by placing it in a vise. Then I slipped the narrowed end over the front sprocket and looked to see how the rear lined up. It was a little off but I still had the rear sprocket flipped. I flipped it back and everything looks to be aligned.

I need to remake the rear caliper hanger so I had an idea. I roughed up a crude bracket to test a theory.

The issue I see (besides the spool bung potentially not being strong enough) is that I'm going to have a relatively long lever arm since the plate will be 1-1/4"+ from the bung when I use a proper thicker plate.

Been a couple months since I made an update report so here goes....

Not much has happened really. Been buying a few parts and pieces here and there but the bike pretty much still looks like it did 2 months ago.

I have project ADD where I jump around and start a task and before I finish it, I start something else. Here's where I am.

I semi-finished my rear caliper mount. I have the hanger 95% done but still need to tackle the stay block (for lack of a better term). Some in progress pics...

Thanks for the comment Leon! It really is appreciated. I sort of gave up on trying to update the thread as I'm getting very little feedback from any of the members. Might just keep updates on my IG feed or maybe not at all.

Doug,
Some of us are just quietly admiring your work and would be sad if you quit posting updates. Since you want chatter, here is a little---

What brand of adjustable levers are those?
Will you be able to get the mc reservoirs close to level?
The rear caliper bracket seems to be hanging at an angle when viewed from behind, yet the caliper seems to be parallel with the disc. Is that an illusion or is that part of the design?

Thanks for chiming in TexasKz. Sorry if I seemed whiny, just was one of those days...

Anyways, to answer your questions.

The levers are just some Chinese knock-offs from eBay. Quality seems pretty nice but I haven't seen a CRG or Rizoma, etc up close to compare to though.

Not sure I'm following on the M/C being level?

The caliper and bracket are both parallel (as far as I can tell) to the disc. I'm taking pics with my phone so they sometimes appear slightly distorted.

Here's a few more updates...

I had already stripped the front wheel in preparation for painting the spokes and hub. The lips are machined from the factory but I wanted them to be a little shinier. I bought some metal polish and started to polish the lips some. I'm not a huge fan of shininess but I wanted a small amount of reflection in them.

After polishing them some, I started masking for the paint.

To be cont'd...

I used Epoxy Appliance paint on the wheel as well as several other parts on the bike. It requires some good prep and once cured (1 week+) it's pretty tough stuff.

Pulled the masking off while the last of 4 coats was still a bit tacky. I think it came out great!
