I have an 83 550 LTD chain drive.

Will any other tanks bolt onto this frame? Standard KZ or GPZ maybe? I'm about to paint it and may just buy a new tank.

I don't know the 550 very well, but typically the answer is no.
1982 KZ1000 LTD parts donor
1981 KZ1000 LTD awaiting resurrection
