OK guys, I am going to try to document the build that I have been working on for almost a year. I have been hoping to be able to get the pictures up so we shall see if my computer skills are up to the challenge. I picked up this 1990 KZP from a friend of mine. Short story long he hit a deer at 60 mph and went down. He went to the hospital that night and the bike went to impound. Next day he and his stepfather picked up the bike (it still ran), took it to his stepfathers garage and put it into the corner. That was 2004. December 2013 we got to talking and I offered him $300.00 for the bike. He agreed as he hadn't seen it. So I picked it up from him and brought it home like shown in these pics.

Well, I began by removing the fairing, bags and the saddle. I cleaned them up and put them up for sale on Craig's list for $500.00. I ended up getting only $300.00 for the items. So, I figured I got the bike for free. Oh, when I opened up the seat I found a mouse had been living under there and making a mess of the fuse box, wiring and using the air filter box as it's urinal. Ugh!

Had to chop the fender as it had been damaged in the wreck.

Since I had removed the police equipment I had to try to sort out the wiring. The siren and pursuit lighting had to be properly removed. The police had simply cut the wiring when they sold the bike.

More wiring mess that I had to try to go through. Boy the wiring diagrams are not easy for this old guy to read. :(

Next thing to do was remove the carbs and boots. Boots were bad but I made a big mistake when I got the new ones. I threw the old ones away. Now, I couldn't make up a support for them for when I use the clear tube method. Boy was that foolish! Then I came to here and found out how useful they could be and man was I disappointed. But I persevere. :)

I decide that I wanted to paint the fenders black. Not the best but just a start so I sanded them down, primered and painted them. Not cleared or buffed but gave me a chance to see what it would look like.

That got me to here. I picked up the seat off of ebay for $70.00 and fabricated minimal mounting in the rear. Although this is how it looks with the seat and fenders I am not done yet. I will continue to document as I go here. I am playing catch up to where I am now so I will be loading up what I have. I figure by the time I'm done catching up I will know what I am doing with this posting of words and pictures. If I am doing something wrong please let me know so I can correct it. Many more pics of my progress coming soon....
