So I am starting this thread way late. I decided to post it here because this is where my kz journey began, with my kz400. You guys(especially Patton and Bounty Hunter) helped me so much with my 400 and with this bike. So enjoy and please ask any questions!

This bike was started about a year ago. I have everything to put it back together just waiting on money to powdercoat the frame.
This is what it looked like when i got it fresh from a backyard mechanic shop who pretty much wired it with chicken wire and couldn't figure out the issue....

BE SURE TO FOLLOW @NORICUSTOMS ON INSTAGRAM OR FACEBOOK FOR MORE ON THIS BUILD AND OTHERS TOO!

i temporarily just took the stock rear faring and mounted it to the rear so i could ride it at barber, just wasn't satisfied though, too generic.

also if you look closely you can see i used the reverse peg method to compatible with the kz750 to create rear set pegs. Here she is at barber.

adding mags and dual disk from a kz750ltd/kz700
had to shave down the width of the swingarm of the kz750ltd about 1-2mm on each side to fit.

fitting the TM38's to this baby:))) many modifications will be going into these carbs due to the fact that they are specifically built for a different vehicle.

almost forgot after barber i immediately developed a mold i was satisfied with for my rear faring. ZX6 influenced.

Also upgraded to a dyna electronic ignition for a 750 4 and just took one of the pickups off. works great!!! Upgraded to some vintage progressive shocks i found. Repainted the springs. Has zx6 controls and front brake master cylinder. I will post more pictures of all my powder coated parts once i am ready for reassembly. I will also pose the Paint and fiberglass process soon.

Nice project. You mentioned that you rode it to Barber. Are you in Alabama? I'm up in the Huntsville area.

Im in knoxville! Tn. Hopefully i'll be racing vintage mx next year with either my Rt360 or my F9/F8 350. Don't know if i'll bring this bike. may not have any room. All depends if i have my mx bikes finished in time.

I grew up in Knoxville. Do you ever make it over the the Time Warp Cafe? A local vintage bike club calls that their home.

are those the stock forks and upper crown? I am looking to change my kz550 upper crown to something flat so I can use clip-ons

Boat drinks, yep sure do. I got every Tuesday now. Took me a good ten times over the past year to finally become a member to timewarp mc. Memeber 191. You should come down for one of the rides!.

Bcbikes, yes they are stock triple tree clamps and forks. The bottom clamp actually has a chrome protective shield over it stock. So with it the triple clamp is just black, but yes front end is all stock.

Wow time flies. So I needed to refernce setting my timing on my ignition for on the 750 twin and decided to log in and continue this thread.

As for my excuse, the 750 twin was running and ran but never fully finished aesthetically and legally...twilight was never mounted. In the meantime I got very into vintage motocross and bought a kx400 and a 80' klx250 along with a few other dirt bikes I now longer own. I've recently decided to get back into finishing this project (it's about time) and want to continue documenting it. I plan to get a go pro soon and document all the procedures o am unable to find instructional videos on. Anyway here's a few things I've done to the bike in the past 3 years.

-dyna s ignition(half 750-4) ignition
-zx6 electrical controls, master cylinder and throttle, cables, and clip ons
-custom milled shims for clip-ons
-shortened frame
-kz650 rear faring
-kz700/kz750 hybrid front end (kz700 bottom end forks,kz750 twin top end forks)
Kz700 dual disc calipers, updated kz700 rear caliper w/ modern rear nissin master cylinder.
-flipped kz750 pegs w/ zx shifter linkage
-shortened and rewelded brake pedal.
-aluminum foot pegs
-powdercoated various parts and frame (so I bought my own Powdercoat and took it somewhere. I realized when I picked up the frame that the powder I bought was actually a textured (stone) powder where as I thought it was a metallic charcoal, so jokes on me. I plan to tear it all down once a its done and sand blast and repaint.)
-kz700 mags
-kz650 rear swingarm(had to grind down the inside of the frame about 1mm on each side

Everything I've done to this bike is been mostly off top. I kept the kz upper fork legs to keep it low. The kz700 legs are longer but they are pressurized, personally I don't think air shocks are necessary for a street bike, at least for my purpose. I'm not racing this bike however I do plan to do some performance upgrades.
I have a paint scheme that I designed I plan to implement, the main things I'm missing are the lithium batter and battery box I have yet to fabricate. I also have a another surprise as far as cosmetics.

I am currently working on mounting the tail light and glassing the seat pan. Very excited about this bike being finished. I also plan to have a starter hole plug milled unless anyone knows someone who sells them? If you guys have any questions just let me know! Thanks guys
