I check in often but rarely post anymore because someone normally beats me to it or its the same question over and over...

Anyways, Testarossa did you ever put up the prints for the hybrid steering stem you talked about on the first page?

I have the same frontend for my 900 as you do and I'm wondering if I should A)swap in the Kz stem, B)swap in a newer Gsxr stem that I have that can use the stock Kz bearings, or C)have a custom stem machined?

Doug, I wound up just pressing the old KZ stem out, and I made up a sleeve on the lathe to press it into my GSXR clamps. It seemed easier in the end. I believe that I still have the print for the hybrid stem, and would be happy to post it you would like. I just can't verify that it is 100% correct since I didn't use it. That was the original plan. I wanted to make up a stem, and make sure that it worked before I gave up the drawing. At this point I will say that you would need to verify that it will work and use at your own risk. I know that paying for one-off machine work can be expensive if you don't have your own lathe.

The upper tubes at the top triple clamp are 50mm dia. My 06 gsxr 1k forks are 50mm, and their the template irishwill used for his design

what year gsxr forks/triples are they?
and what is the fork dia.?
I have a top clamp here ...that those stock guages will bolt onto....the only thing you may have to do is bush the hole for the stem....I believe the stem had a bigger OD in '07...than in previous years....(the clamp was built for an 07) but that should be an easy fix as long as the forks are the same size.
I think I have 5 left

Ok so I just measured the forks and they are 50mm at the top clamp, and 54mm at the bottom clamp. Last but not least, the tubes are 214mm apart on center. Do these numbers mesh with your top clamp design? I'm interested.

Guages really came out nice ;)

Thanks Larry. I still need to figure out a way of replicating the original labels on the warning lights. Mine dash has almost no trace left of the the idiot lights, and only the faintest trace on the turn signal arrows. I know that blue is high beams, green is neutral, but the oil pressure light and brake outage like both being red could lead to a confusing situation. Not likely to happen, but what if the break light goes out, and not knowing I think that I have lost oil pressure. What is the natural response. Kill the bike and get her stopped fast. Only to be rear-ended because the car following couldn't see your break light.

I might just have one of those light covers. I'll check in the morning. If I do, I'll PM you for your mailing address and send it to you. If there's anything else like that you can think of,let me know and I'll check. If I got it..it's yours...no charge. Just glad to help out. This is going to be a nice ride :)

testarossa,
the busa legs in the picture are 43 mm on the chrome slider.if someone else doesn't chime in with the dimensions for the leg center to center and stem offset i can check tonight and let you know.
irishwill,
i still have to address the stem and one of the legs has a bent slider so i have to address that as well.i am closer than i was tho  .

Leon,
I appreciate it. The stem offset was the last dimension that I need and I forgot to mention it. So if the offset and tube spacing are good, then I could use one of Ben's clamps. Are those handlebar risers milled into the clamp or are they bolted on?
