Did a few more things to her. Superbike bars, new grips, front turn signals, and im loving the new gold bar end mirrors! Slowly but surely she is getting there. Definately need to jet it cause it looses alot of power in the top end. So, for the meantime, on monday, I am trading my 97 Honda civic for a 2005 CBR600rr with 13k miles on her. That will at least get me on the road while I finish up my KZ. If it rains I have a Hoopty 87 Ford ranger to get me around. I can't wait for next week!

Man, its been a while and alot has been done. To start it off I laid down my cbr about 2 weeks ago. Thats about 1200 in damage. Im ok at least. But two days after that my battery, jets, and seat vinyl all came in the mail.

For the jets I got 117.5 Mains and 17.5 pilots. With the pods and the Jardine exhaust she runs excellent! The battery I got was a UB1222 battery off ebay for $22. It fits really nice under my seat. She is a kick only but fires up on first kick every time. She's a little sluggish taking off initially but I believe thats from the accelerator pump. I need to remove it. And the number one carburetor overflow likes to randomly puke out a little fuel about every 4-5 hours of sitting.

I ended up chopping up the entire harness to move the majority of the electronics under the rear of the seat, stuck the flasher in the headlight bucket, and removed the whole gauge cluster, dummy lights and all. Changed my left hand controls to one off a 00 kawi z1000. And put a new Continental Conti Go tire on the front. I am so pleased with it. Just need to paint the wheels, tank, and cut the side panel tabs off the frame.

She is definately not meant for wet weather with the short seat. Some may like what Ive done, some will probably hate it. I like it so thats all that matters. Let me know what you think.

Looking good.
How was hooking up the z1000 left handlebar switch?
Another 650 owner was asking if anyone had used other switches/controls.
If the side cover tabs are not going to be used, I'd be cutting them off at this point.

It was easy. I just looked inside it to get some colors and used the continuity setting on a multimeter to figure them out. I did not use the flasher on it so they are disconnected in the switch. Also which is nice to turn off the blinkers now I just need to push it in. There is a choke lever on it but it doesnt bother me.

Thanks, yeah its been a long long slow project. I also used the front brake master cylinder and lever from the z1000. I also want an all black 4-1 exhaust. All in time....

Shes been through a lot over the past few years. Welded a rear hoop on her, new seat. Took off more tabs that weren't needed. Finally got my 4-1 exhaust. All New gaskets in the motor. Made a brand new harness and eliminated everything I didn't care for. My only gauge is an oil pressure light. That's all I care about. But she runs excellent.
