Yet another snag...

Yet another snag... was created by Samwell
I had my Kawi running last summer, so far so good. I found (and fixed) a few oil leaks, no problems. Then I found a leak at the base gasket - ugh. So earlier this spring, I disassembled the engine (again) to replace the gasket and use a little evil permatex to seal things up.

The snag comes in when I torqued my cylinder head down...yep its bad...The 18 ft-lb sequence no problem, when I tightened it to final torque, #9 in sequence went soft! :S

This engine has APE studs and nuts holding it together. However, I'm guessing that I pulled the stud out of its hole! Anyone have experience with a Timesert?

I was tempted to ignore it and see if it leaks at the head but thats asking for trouble.

that sucks, its connected to one of the oil passages!:S time to pull it back off and do an autopsy, when you installed the new studs did you run a botteming tap through the holes to clean out the threads?;)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

I'd thought I'd followed the rules and cleaned out the threads and installed the studs by APE's directions.

Guess I'm just lucky! :S

I'm hoping that a Timesert will be all I need. I'll post again with the findings.
