Well folks,
I finally got her running after chasing a suspected vacuum leak for ages. Turned out that the replacement throttle cable was just a bit too short (how dumb does that make me feel?). Ended up trimming the twist return stop to create more cable return movement--problem solved. She stumbles below 3000 RPM's but runs great above that. I know I have at least 1 bad vacuum diaphragm but will have to save up for 4 replacements from the U.K (cost 150-200 bucks with shipping).
To date I have replaced the petcock, new carb to airbox boots, carb holder mounts, speedo console and side covers off craig's list. Carbs in and out of the bike multiple times. I also picked up a complete extra motor for 30 bucks off CL. Look at how close the front fender is mounted... The P.O. must have mounted an oversized front tire. I have been taking short shakedown rides to see where the bugs are, so far, nothing serious. Check out this short vid and share your comments. Thanks Grant.
