1981 kz1000j track day project ,begins

so here goes...
This is a fuzzy phone picture(better ones coming soon) to start my project thread.....the bike sits in the condition recieved..i took the seat and valve cover off to poke around and see what i'm up against...the bike is clean for the most part with a newer gloss black paint job of very good quality...
i've a box or two (or four) of spares...and am starting a list of whats missing(see my wanted add in the classified section)..
i think i am gonna make a running/ registerd /street bike then set it up do track days here at seca....just for fun and cuase it's so close by
all the clubs i've seen require stock pipes becuase of laguna secas really strict noise rules....(paint it lawson and get a kerker..lol)..
i would like to get it running soon see where i'mat with her ...and will have more questions..and pictures to follow...peace

but looks like a nice start - always impressed with members who find KZ locally... I never find much in the SoCal area... maybe I don't get out enough?

I first thought your were prepping this KZ for the drags, but then it hit me, and I read Road Racing instead. I have 6 GPz550's, and made one into a track bike. If I could recommend a track day provider, if you haven't been on tack before, Zoom Zoom Trackdays is the one I completed this past Thanksgiving Weekend at Thunderhill Raceway, in Willows, CA.

Enough about my time... Zoom Zoom offered ample amount of instructors if you needed one, and loads of track time, allowing me to put 227 miles on the odometer that weekend, missing only 2 on track sessions. Had a blast. Track days are more expensive at Laguna Seca and Infineon, unlike Buttonwillow and Thunderhill.

What are you planning on riding/maybe racing in the future? Super Dinousaur in AFM? You live close to Laguna Seca I see.

yeah i know supercharged the phone photos are pretty rough...i'm getting the tech bug though so the learning curve is here....yes i was happy to pick up this 1000j i've wanted one for a few years to retro superbike...finances are the key here now...thanks take care...i like your bikes ..sweeeeeet

.my leathers alone are gonna be 1100...vanson leathers owners wife measured me at the moto gp expo and it took about 15 minutes ..there are like 25 dif spots they check..she is gonna make a retro black and two green colors race suit for about the same anyway cause i'm like 6'7" 285 and not gonna be able to buy normal gear(size 16 race boots anyone?? lol)..
i'm gonna look into your school and save this thread... i don't wanna race.... my youth is behind me...but i want to take a kz through the corkscrew...and down the front straight..if i can get the ducks in row here next year....if this bike sits it will become like so many peoples projects out there...i want it to get running...peace guys...
