Found a tank on Ebay, new instuments, throttle cable, fairing, new front brake rebuild, levers, master cylinder kit, and cleaned carbs. Working on the skins and tank.

NICE!! Is that a GPZ motor or did you have the engine painted? Those gauges must have been a real pain, I looked for a month to find a good used set!

If you need help with any other parts, let me know, I may have them as I got a bunch of spare stuff when I bought my GPZ.
Painting the wheels is no fun. It was an all day project for me as well. I used gold high temp engine paint on mine, the color was the closest I could find to the correct color.
Keep us up to speed on your progress.

Yes I painted the wheels, and it was an all project as well. I found a really nice complete meters with 4000 mi. on the odometer on Ebay. I cleaned and painted the engine, Did the same with my GPz 550 and to date have not had any problems with chipping, flaking etc. I`ve always liked the Z1000r elr model when I saw it in `84 and I was looking for this particular bike to make one (looks only obviously). Keeps me busy on my days off and I have plenty of green paintB) .
