First post! Been lurking and soaking up information for a while though.

Got the seat on my KZ today and finally got to take it down the road for a test ride.
It sounds awesome and runs pretty good. It still needs a few tweaks and adjustments after the maiden voyage. It seems to run out of fuel at 6-7K RPM and starts breaking up.

I think it may be the fact that we only ran a single fuel line and filter that splits between the two inlets, instead of running a line from each petcock spout to each inlet.

Either that or it needs bigger mains. It has 117.5 now, with 20 pilots. Runs great until 6K.

1977 KZ1000, VM28 Carbs, 4 into 1 header (Gemini?), Dyna S ignition and coils, pod filters, over-sized valves and some unknown aftermarket cams.

Thanks! I'm really excited to almost have it done.

My dad found the pipe and can on eBay for around 100 bucks. We have a baffle for it too, when I need to quiet it down.

It is no where near as obnoxious as I though it would be with the baffle out though. It is a mean and nasty sounding bike, it wants to go. Awesome.

Welcome to KZR, I'd say your a bit lean with 117.5's and no baffle. I have a hot 650 with 29 smoothbores and with my baffle in I run 120's and baffle out I run 122.5's. I'd try some 120's at least.
