My '77 KZ650 bobber

I got this bike completely stock and pretty ugly.
After a few changes...

I like how you accomplished the bobber look. The only other way that I have seen is an extreme cut of the frame and weld a bar in. I like your (less invasive) way also. I think that is how I will do mine. looks good. Did you paint yourself or have it done?

Thanks...I painted it myself with spray paint. I used Duplicolor paints and their clear engine enamel for topcoat because it's gas and oil resistant. Not too bad for a $20 paint job!

I like it a lot but that rear wheel being so close to the seat and trying to pull stuff down into the frame gives me big worry. I'm also not a fan of front fenderless bikes. They look cool but my experience tells me there are drawbacks. Nice job tho!

What?...You don't like the strip of water going up the front and back when you ride through a puddle? Yeah, I thought about mounting a rear fender...maybe this winter I'll get a little more motivation to do that. I've just been enjoying riding it though...it's such a fun bike. Thanks for the comments!

Oh yeah, is anyone else's bike really hard to start? The push button doesn't work so I have to kickstart it, which I don't mind at all...it's the 20 kicks it takes before it starts that is kinda getting to me. Thanks again.

One Q though, Have you ever thougt what happens if you hit a pothole with a hardtail, no rear fender and tire ´bout 2" off your a.s:P That´s gonna hurt:huh:

No, not that. These bikes don't have a fork brace, so the front fender is it. Flimsy enough as it is - I added a fork brace to mine and it transformed the handling on curves (along with some other mods).

I haven't really noticed a difference in the ride without the fender...then again, taking off the fender was one of the first things I did when I got the bike, so I really can't compare. It rides and handles really well, though; I think because of it's lower stance.

As for the rear fender (or lack of) and potholes, I just kinda pucker the 'ole ass-cheeks and hope for the best, haha. So far, so good...I'm usually pretty good at dodging such obstacles.
