My maiden voyage today on my KZ550 ELR clone!!

Well it has taken some time but today was the day:) The link below is where this project started. I bought this bike for 50 bucks about eleven years ago and never did anything with it until about a 1 1/2 years ago. Most would say it should have been scrapped but i love these old Kaws! I still have some more things to do but a least i can now ride itB)

now this is what it looks like.

I was going to try to color the raised white letters black but i kind of like them now so i may try to paint white letters on the rear.

Nice work Tom! I've got one of those torn apart in the basement. I bought it as a parts bike, but every now and then I think maybe I should put it back together. Maybe when my step son outgrows the 305 we can make a project out of it.

That came out great, you'd never know it's the same bike.

What kind of swing arm is that?
Those handle bars look phat. What are they?
What you going to do for signals?

JohNLA: The swingarm and linkage is off a ninja 250. I had to do some cutting and welding on the frame for that.

The handle bars are some old motocross bars that i was using temporarily but ended up staying on because i thought they looked pretty good and they feel pretty good too!

I have not decided on signals yet, I want to put on the smallest LED signals i can find.

I wanted to build this for less than $1000. I have not added up the total but it should be about $1100.
