kz750 twin project

hi guess what , i finished the old girl on friday night
got the tank and side covers back from paint shop so it just had to be finished
had her first maiden voyage on saturday , and wow it ran like a new one
aq big thanks to all who answered all my questions and gave advice
a short run down , the engine was rebuilt from ground up bearings ,pistons etc bored 10 thou over , carbs finally synched it turned out to be that k little adj screw for the butterflys made the rh side lazy and fouled up plugs etc for years now it purs ,p[aint work was all bead blasted to bare metal and plastic and colour matched to the new tail section i found on ebay last year , new seat ,another ebay gem and rubbers cables gaskets etc ,pinstiping done by a sign writer ,thanks to a few of you sending pics of striping it matches beautifully
here is some pics ,once again guys a big thanks and hope all are warm safe and upright on 2 wheels

g,day mate sorry havent answered till now
had a new tail section fron the states sent over last year it sat there till it was time to paint ,i think it is called diamond green the kaw clour
had a paint shop called perrows match the tail colour took them about 2 weeks but i said take as long as you like ,as long as it is right , if anyone wants paint i am happy to send it ,a lthough i dont know re air freight etc ,happy to chk it is 2 pack ,striped then 4 coats of 2 pac clear block sanded between coats over all

what do you have to so to winterise your bike or is it just a term meaning its too bloody cold to get it out

took about 2 yrs from the time it broke down to last week , got real busy at work so sometimes it went slow , other stages went quick

Yes, you are lucky...

But, I really do take stpes to winterize them. The steps vary from year-to-year as I search for the "perfect" winterization (for me). I keep track of them on the "projects" section of my biquetoast.com site.

For instance, this year I filled all the tanks on the bike to the top with "Sta-bil"-ized fuel to prevent rust. I'll never do that again, because I basically can't work on the bikes now all winter. I mean, I managed to re-do the whole front end of one of them, but I can't do valves and stuff... not easily I mean... so I live and learn...

Most importantly, I put them up on centerstand and wood blocks, tires down to about 15 lbs, a couple spoons of oil in the cyls, oil/filter change, drain float bowls, etc. Stuff like that.

is that what you guys got for a rear fender? that thing is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge!!

yep as i said we are so lucky down here ,i am no sunshine biker ride rain or shine but there is not many places in oz we cant go , probally only the snow season in our state and another, been there done that and shit scary to ride in , i can imagine how happy you must be when it thaws to be able to get them out again and turn a wheel
i guess we deal mostly with the other extrame , the heat ,its been mid high 30,s to 40.s c. the last few months trys you out putting on the gear , see so many weekenders on their flash go fast machines no gear ,shorts t shirt etc flying around town ,one shudders ,but thats another story
