rear end kinda mock up was created by donthekawguy
I threw the new swing arm and wheel on to see what it will look like. The wheel is a 18x5 and the arm is a 6 over. I'm hoping that a 190 tire will fit in there.

I hope so. It should be strong enough. I got the wheel from a drag racer on dragbike.com. BTW-FREEBIE!

5" rims are not big enough for a 190. You'll round the tire over too much. If you want to run a 190, I suggest a 6" rim but a 5.5" will do.

Damn how about a 180? Or what size would work? I have 9 1/4 inches to fill in the swingarm.

A 180 is possible. A 170 or even a 160 will give you a decent footprint. My 1000 has a 160 on a 4.5" rim. Normally a 4.5" goes with a 160-170 tire, and a 5.5" has a 180-190 tire. So a 5" could have a 170-180 tire.

If you looking for a wide footprint, figure out what size tire is made for your rim and then use the next smaller tire. This will flattenout the tire for a wider footprint. I use a 130 on a 3.5 rim (made for a 140+ tire) and this flattens tire out for more rubber on the road. Lots of guys will use a 5.5 rim and use a 170 tire to flatten profile out, although that size rim is used for 180-190 tires. Of course, we do this for better traction and if you want to use the bike for cornering, you want to go the other way.
