First off I have a 1985 KZ1000 Police Bike.
I have been poking around here for over 2 years asking question and getting a lot of help and ideas for my project. I have received a few emails asking for some picture of my project so I thought I would just post everything here.
These are a couple of pictures of my bike the day I got it.

The first thing I did is strip nearly everything off the front end and raked it out about 15*. Then I swapped the shocks out for a set of 11 1/2 Progressive shocks to lower the rear to match the front.

Then I did a 530 chain conversion, Thanks to www.z1enterprises.com for the help and perfect parts! If you're wanting to do a chain swap contact them, they know what there doing. Also I got new tires. On the front I'm running Metzeler 110/80-18 and in the rear I'm running Metzeler 130/70-18 low and mean! Also here and there I've primed a few pieces flat black for now.

The next step was remounting the rear fender. This took some work but it came out just right IMHO. I decided to use the original police fender. I had to remove the inter wire tunnel and shave/flatten the rear tail light mount. Now it is smooth and sleek.
Then after cutting the radio box mount off I repositioned it under the back of the seat and lowered it.

In the next step I temporally mounted my new headlight. I also painted the lower fork tubes, triple trees and handle bars all satin black.
Also, I reworked the tank with good old bondo and fiberglass. Smoothing the edges of the tank to give it a nice custom look, no more crimped edge.

This is where it stands right now. I still have a ways to go. Let me know what you think of my chopper project.

As one of the people who asked about it, Thanks

Very nice work, looks like you know exactly what you are going for, and have alot of work into it.

why is the headlight temporary?

Any chance you have any pictures of your frame at the neck? The frames on those things are crazy reinforced, i wouldnt know where to start.

Thanks for the comments.
The headlight will be permanent, I just haven't completed the bracket for it yet.
I will see if I have any up close pictures of neck area. If not I will take a few and post them. The bike is at my friends house right now so it could be a day or two.

I dig the rake.

Looks very tough, love to see the look on the faces of the "Hardley F**king Moving" crowd when you dust them at will.

I think I would lose many a night's sleep deciding how to paint her.

You know, I'm not really into choppers, but that is gonna look good! Never tough of using a KZ1000P for the basis of a chopper.

Looks like she is coming along fine. I am working on pretty much the same deal except mine is a 78KZ650SR and I will be going with 6"-8" over fork tubes. I have one question. I like the look of the pan so far, but what will/are you doing with the seat?

Well as of right now I have just trimmed a few inches off the sides of the stock police seat. I am going to take it and the original foam to get it reupholstered. I want it to be at least an inch or two shorter.
I'll post some picks after I get it done.
I just finished KREEMing my tank today. It was a rust bucket when I got it. After I pulled the petcock off I poured a small pile of rust out of it almost like sand. So I followed all the directions to a tee and it came out beautiful. Before I added the KREEM to the tank it looked almost new there wasn't much left in it the stuff really works. Now everything is covered in a nice white film. I have been told that it will turn brown after gas is added no biggie as long as the rust is gone!

This post was originally by musashi927 who inadvertently posted it as a new thread. I've reposted it here. KZCSI

To: allshookup,
You are doing exactly what I want to do. Could you give me some insight? Just how did you start this chopper? I don't know anything about this bike except it looks like a beast with an attitude. Any info would be appreciated. By the way, Very nice job.
