Good point.



They're all oil bath primary drives starting way back with the Flatheads. And, Shovelheads replaced panheads in '66.
Also, in response to something else said, they are all still vertically split cases.

True enough. Ooopsies!

My old Knucklehead ran dry most of the time!

Shovelheads replaced panheads in '66.


Knew that. ;)

But they switched from the flathead/knuckle/pan-style motor cases and derby-style primaries in '68 - which really opened the oil sieve...

yeah it's always fun watching these emotions abt Harleys or... Well at least i think so because i've been around them for over 25yrs.

Been riding bikes all me life mostly Harleys and Kawasakis,Ducatis,Nortons,HVAs and take my word they make a great combo, ok maybe it's easy for me to say beacuse i eat drink shit sleep... bikes i'm a promotorcyclebuilderwrench by trade so i work on all kinds and makes all day and all of the night and burning the midnite oil big time.
