4 into 1 megaphone pipes. They're badly rusted; likely will replace (along with a LOT of other stuff).

Well, that's the bike. Next step is to pick up a Clymer service manual and complete the tear-down. Thanks to all the offers for guidance that I've received; I'll definitely be using the knowledge base in this forum!

You sure do have a basket case.
But, if you can keep the engine in the frame, the rest won't be too bad.
Problem is, it's hard to finish when the bike is stripped like that. Every time you go to install something, you'll look at it and want to clean, polish, or repaint it. And since it's all off the bike, you might as well.
When you're done, you'll have a nice ride for sure.

2 basic stand types are available
the ride on ramp runs up to 1500 bucks for a basic one.
and the type i bought is a pump up type that lifts from the frame.

It's ALL coming apart, dude. Allegedly, some idiot tried high-octane airplane fuel in it and fried the top off one of the pistons, which is how I came by the bike. Anyway, many of the components haven't been used in along while (rear brake master seized for example), and I want to update the ignition system anyway so I might as well go for the complete tear-down.

I have the simple-type lift. I was interested in something more along the lines of a stand for re-assembly, however there's been suggestions that milk crates work well for this. (I dunno why I'm worried about re-assembly. I'll be collecting my Social Security by the time THAT occurs. :lol: )

Welcome to KZR. I love the C models. Still looking for one similar to what you picked up.

Harbor Freight has a few different motorcycle/atv lifts. I have not bought one yet. My 77B is completely torn down, labeled in plastic bags and boxes. One thing that I had really thought about buying is an engine stand. These 650 motors are as heavy not as the big bores but enough to make working on them a chore sometimes.
