I am restoring a 1973 Z1 900. I have just removed damper assembly and noticed the parts are installed in a different sequence from each other. Does anyone have a detailed discription on the correct sequence for the damper assembly.

Go to www.buykawasaki.com , then to 'Owner Info,' and then to 'Parts Diagrams.' You will have to register before you can view the 'Parts Diagrams' however.

You should be able to view a diagram of the 1973 Z1-900's front forks along with a view of the damper rod assembly.

Well I tryed but it does not give enough detail. I need to see where the wave washer and check sit with in that assembly. Theres three parts they do not show. All parts are steel. A plate with holes in it a wave washer and a what looks like a check which seals the holes on the plate. I may have to take a photo of these. Maybe it will jog someones memory.

Here's the parts breakdown from the Shop Manual. Hope this helps.
Edit:
Had to break the picture up into two parts to maintain some resolution.
Here's the first:

Thats what I found also. But they do not show several parts that are critical to the damper assembly. Installed wrong and the forks will not dampen properly. I think I have a good idea how they go but can't quite comprehend the path of oil flow.I have a pair of 76 legs which are slightly different but they may give me some hints.

Thanks for posting
