Howdy All!

Long time rider, first time poster! Found this site looking for some suspension upgrade info on my 1982 GPz1100 (KZ1100B2)

Back in '88 a buddy of mine somehow ended up with 2 1982 GPz1100's. One had a custom paint job but lost a timing chain and had the top end blown, and the other had the stock paint and ran. He swapped the tank, plates, and fenders off of the blown bike and was going to use it for parts as needed. Before he could do that, I talked him out of it for $350.00...

Just so happened that I was working for an independent MC shop run by a ex-road racer at the time and was able to get it rebuilt with a salvaged '84 head, new set of Dunlop K491 Elite SP's, and a "Hot New" (at the time anyway) 4 into 1 Supertrapp exhaust system, all for the cost of a little time, sweat, and elbow grease at the MC shop that summer. (I'll never forget you Larry and miss you very much!)

Here is what she looked like several weeks ago (and 18 years later) after some tank, brake, and fuel system flushing, new brake pads front and rear, and another 500 miles...

I say looked like in the past tense because I will be putting a reconditioned '82 gauge cluster back on her and she is currently on jacks while the forks get rebuilt, the wheels get straightening, bearing, seal, and powder coating treatment, and the Supertrapp pipes are being sandblasted and coated in a satin black ceramic.

Will post new pics when I get her back together.

A little tank, frame, and engine touch up and she'll be looking and running better than new!

Long live the K(Z)ing!!!

Two ways to get a fairing...
(1) watch eBay...they will pop up periodically...note that the 1981 1100 aftermarket fairing is completely different but that the 1982 750/1100 is what you need...many times, they will be listed as a 1982 GPz750 fairing and it is identical (including mounting hardware to the 1100)...same as the 1982/1983 ELR fairing. Expect to pay about US$75-100 for a used fairing...if it is in ELR paint/markings...you will pay even more.
(2)Maier still makes the fairing and it is very very close to the original 750/1100 fairing including hardware. It is produced in black ABS and expect to pay approx. US$175.00
