Hi, very new to the KZ forum as this is my first post.

I picked up a KZ200 within the last month that was sitting for 30+ years. Already have it running and driving. I am now just getting around to submitting paperwork to the DMV so I can receive registration and plates for it.

Here's the problem:

When purchased from a towing company (the bike was illegally parked on the sidewalk and was towed, and unclaimed for more than 1+ month or something like that, so ownership was legally given to the towing co.), I received nothing but a document named "Vehicle/Vessle Transfer and Reassignment form", signed by both parties (me and towing co.) I have no title, no license plate, no registration, nothing. Not even old paperwork. Legally the towing company owns the bike. B/c the bike is a 1977, it has an 11-digit vin, so I can't even search anything up regarding it.

What should I do? I am 17 years old, so pardon my lack of knowledge and potential ignorance.
Thank you!

It depends on the State. You'll have to take that piece of paper to your local DMV and hope for the best. They may not issue a new title, but they might let you register it and license it.
Good luck.

Assuming you are in he U.S.,, the state agency in charge of titles and registration, yes, even the name of that department varies from state to state, may have the procedure described on its website.

in some/all states you have to get a bonded title. a $$ surety bond is required. so you could do a search that applies to your state.  another consideration. to be more thorough. the police could run the vin to see if it has been reported stolen.
