My "got to have it" started in the spring of 78' when my uncle got his 77' KZ 1000LTD. Last July I bought my uncle's bike and it is basically done. I'm currently working out a couple of electrical gremlins and I'll be riding it a bunch this summer.

My "got to have one" obsession started when I was 16, I had a ride on the back of my mates brothers KZ which scared me shitless and left me with wobbly knees (I was riding a DT50 at the time

What year was it? And what kz was that? I'm asking because you mentioned about your grandkids being almost as old as me

It was 1979 and the bike was a maroon KZ1000 - my three grandsons are 13 - 14 - 15   (I guess that makes me officially old !!!)

My son is 14 and I'm 64 so what does that make me?

I think that makes you quite the stud

Your 77 LTD is what made me have to have a LTD

I saw one of those new in 77 and knew I had to have one

man that's one beautiful bike. Btw I've wondered why do they call the cruiser versions Ltd

Also how many versions of the kz1000 are there, there's the standard kz1000 which looks almost same as the older Z1 900s then there's the Ltd, then there's the Z1-R, it's Eddie Lawson replica, then I heard that there's a kz1000h which was probably the first Street motorcycle with fuel injection, then there's a ST which was shaft driven, Then there was a G which was called the Z1 classic and was more of a cruiser then there was P which was a police cruiser and produced until 2005(when I was born).

I don't know about your title, I'm 18 and still have a few decades to reach  , but the motorcycle, man I love that red brown paint scheme version of the Z1, but when I saw your profile it said "1974 Z1 900", isn't that when they moved from the fireball design to just normal lines? Then I saw your profile also says "1978 kz1000b 73 tribute"

So is that a kz1000 with the tank swapped from a 1973 z1?

Check out the Feb BOTM feature for the low down on Wheelhop's ride
thanks I checked it out, maybe before I could afford a original early Z2 or even Z1 I would probably get a Zephyr and try to make it like that or kind of like Onizuka's bike from the show/comic with a custom swing arm, upward exhausts and everything

Btw what's that pipe from the clutch box going to that radiator do, I've seen that on a lot of custom Z1s and Z2s from Japan here's one  www.bikeexif.com/z2-kawasaki
