Okay so I've been working on my bike for about a month now, still trying to bring it back to life and thought I'd give a little progress update.

This bike started out with everything wrong with it, except that it had just enough life to turn over and run for a few minutes at a time (that is, until I fried the electronics on it because the wiring harness finally decided to give up the ghost).

I totally re-wired the entire bike, ebayed the crap out of a bunch of miscellaneous parts, and have been able to slowly but surely make this bike start looking alike a bike again. The tank that came with it was toast, the phosphoric acid I used on it ate all that was left of the rust-steel, so I had to get a new tank (a steal on ebay for $15). I used MEK to dissolve the kreem crap out of it and instead re-coated it with POR-15, which I can tell is already 1000 times better. Kreem dissolves in Acetone/MEK. POR-15 doesn't. In fact, my hands won't be clean of it for quite a while. Even my dentist today laughed at my silver hands. I should have worn gloves.

The carbs were in bad shape, I broke an EZ-out trying to get one of the pilot jets out, so now I have a useless set of carbs and had to splurge on a newer set (ebay). Most of the parts are aftermarket/homemade/frankensteined on to the bike and I'm still trying to get it to look somewhat original but with my own touches where I see fit. I rattlecanned the body and am now just needing an exhaust (and to put the brakes on) before taking it out on the street. At this point I just want to get on the road, then wait until winter to make it look/run even better.

That's all I got, I'm out.

P.S. I'm glad I've had this site to refer to, or else I'd still be so lost and would have parted out the bike on ebay by now (like I did the two honda cb's I had in college, haha.)

Oh yeah, besides the exhaust, I need to fab a seat. The towel definitely won't do. :)

Looks good so far! I would definitely put the brakes on it before you ride it. They come in handy now and again...

I enjoy seeing these bikes resurrected and put back on the road. Yours is starting to look good. Keep it up!
