Hi all!

I'm a founding member of a women's riding group in Brisbane (called The Litas Brisbane) and a few of us have bought shares in a 1979 KZ200 with the aim of rebuilding it into a street tracker for our members to use.  We meet most Friday nights at Skinny's Social Garage at Bowen Hills to work on it and talk through design ideas.  The bike is running and we've checked over all the electrics (which thankfully are good!) so it seems to be a solid base for us to start with.  Our biggest issue at the moment is the front brake (which is pretty much non-existent) so we're hoping to swap it out with a KZ750 set up if we can source one. We're also looking at whether we need to replace the spokes front and rear, but if the current ones are deemed safe and aren't seized then that will definitely save us a bit of money to spend on paint etc.

I'm really looking forward to utilising the wealth of knowledge on this forum to help us on our bike build journey!

Cheers,
Amanda

Welcome aboard.
One of the informal rules here is, if there are no pictures, it didn’t happen

Welcome. It’s always fun to get together with people that share similar interests. I bet putting you ideas together to produce a custom build only makes that more enjoyable.

Welcome to KZRider.

I have a 1978 KZ200 acquired in new condition with 1800 miles on it in 1992.   It now has 5800 miles.   In Rochester, NY the riding season is short and I only ride early Sunday morns in good weather.   :-)

You say the front brake is "non-existent".   Does this mean it literally is not there?

Welcome again.
