Hi everybody was created by insanebuttraid
Hey everyone brand new member here. Just picked up an 83 kz440 belt just in time to sit all winter lol . It's a little bit more of a project than I was in the market for and I cant complain. It appears as someone had dropped it onto its right side and banged up a few pieces of glass and plastic but it still runs and rides fairly well after a good warm up. Let me give yall a run down of what I'm dealing with and let me know if you have any tips. Hopefully by next season I'll see some of you on the road.
So Far I've done...
-Oil change
-Spark Plugs
-Replace Tachometer (glass cracked needle missing)
-Right blinker Lens
-New Battery

What I plan to do...
-replace MC fasteners (rusted/soft/stuck/PITA to remove)
-Brake bleed
-replace Headlight lens (cracked from drop)
-replace air filter cap

This bike starts and runs incredibly well for having the air filter cap/housing completely missing. The airbox is still attached obviously, but I refuse to bother with pod filters so If anyone has any leads on replacement parts for that lmk. The front brake lever is pretty soft so I hope a brake flush will sort that out. The guy I bought it from had some serious cajones riding this thing on the freeway to drop it off

Welcome. There's been a resurgence of the 400/440s lately.

Howdy. Looks pretty darn good in the pics. Neat tank graphics. If you don't know the age of the rear brake shoes, you should replace them >> the adhesive that binds the linings to the shoes can fail, locking the rear wheel. It happened to me, do it does happen. Mine looked almost new, but they were 25+ yrs old.
