That's one farkle we won't do without, OEM originality notwithstanding.

We ride everything we have. Accidental parking lot drops happen to the best of us, sometimes completely out of one's control. Or, put a foot down on gravel/sand/fuel coming to a stop. Any number of low-speed/no-speed "oops" events can cause very expensive damage to OEM dyno or points covers. Caseguards are cheap & easy sacrificial accessories. But that's just us.

Heard it said once that there's nothing rational about an expensive conveyance that falls over if one places it in it's operating position & walks away.

I agree with your assessment, just did not like the appearance of them, and hope to never have the issue you have described. Although I do admit, I'm not as young and strong as I once was, so I suppose the possibility is higher than it used to be.

Just went for a short 150 mile spin this morning. Brought a smile to my face. ;)
