Hi All,

What a great resource here and a lot of reading is in my future! :)

I'm a Kiwi down in NZ, but have lived in the UK and riden in Europe for 20 years. Recently returned to NZ for the lifestyle and family. I've just come by bike number 76 for me; Z750-E1, I think it is a 1981. It's not been started for 25 years, and only has 15,000 km on the clock.

I'll pick it up in a few weeks time when back from a work-trip, and plain initially just lots of cleaning and get it running; new fluids all round, new rubber. I then have to get it plated in NZ, as the owner bought it with him from South Africa 26 years ago and never used it here.

Cheers!

Howdy. The 750E is one of my favorites. never had one, but I kind of patterned my 650 refurbishment after a blue model.
In the USA the E1 would be a 1980 model.

Since it came from S.Africa, here's a page from a .ZA specs website. motorcyclespecs.co.za >> Z750E
I often times use the site to find info on various models (usually for non-USA models).

Let's try some pictures. Maybe I can get more clues as to the specific year prior to picking it up in a few weeks!

Hi from a fellow Kiwi,
It looks like an "L" model to me. It as a larger fuel tank than the "E" model (and probably some other minor/detail differences). The L model was first introduced in late 80/early 81 - but I don't think it was available in all markets. I've kept an eye out for the Z750s for sale in New Zealand since acquiring my E model a few years ago, and yours is the first L model I've come across - so it might be unique here.

I think that you are spot on! Found the exact paint job on a 1980 Z750 L
