Hi everyone,
After the best part of 40 years I finally, finally got myself a “mint” Z1000R2... or so I thought (Insert sound effect of a needle scratching across a record). After a closer inspection, the true horror has started to unfold. I can’t complain too much as I got it for a good price and it will be worth it to sort the old girl out. They are a thing of beauty, any advice with any potential issues regarding its restoration/rescue would be very much appreciated.

Cheers
Wilsy

hello kz riders. this site has gotten me very excited. After spending a life time working on vtwins liquid and air cooled. I opend up a new chapter the inline 4. driving down the road one day i saw a 1976 kz900 for sale. to me it was the most beautiful machine i ever seen. i named it ol red. after lowering it so i could ride it you cant stop anywhere without at least one person stopping you so they can talk about it..hearing peoples stories about the bad ass guy up the road or there uncle or just anyone who owned one. i truly believe these are the most iconic bikes of. all time. since purchased i added a trac dynamics swing arm. side winder exhaust dyna ignition all new wire harness. but now its time to get real.. i plan on doing allot of hog hunting this summer. my 1196 sleeves came today. i will have them installed before the sun comes but honestly i could use the help of the kz rider nation in getting a hard running reliable bike together thank you

I'll get some pics sorted ASAP. I really had no intention to do a full resto but it is looking more and more likely that I will have to. I just got the rolling chassis back from the engineers after being checked and straightened. Lots of heat marks from the process. It's probably straighter now than it was when it came out the factory.
