I've been passively looking at KZ's for a long time. I'm 51 and grew up in New York - Long Island.

In my teens (1981-1986) I rode dirt bikes..Suzuki RM's. But most of the street bikes seemed to be KZ's..at least the ones that would race around and make a kid excited. First real street bike I rode was a KZ400 when I was about 15. I started hanging out with bikers and I ended up with a hardtail chopper powered with a Honda 450.

But I always wanted a KZ.

Fast forward 34 years (college, an eventful decade being single, married, very soon thereafter divorced, kids and here I am now)....I finally got the KZ. I'm sure the 650 will have a big brother here soon.

Over the years I rode, but it was minimal. Kids and work..nuff said. In the past I had a 1979 HD shovelhead rigid chopper, BMW K100, Suzuki dual sport DR350 , I currently own a '98 Dyna Low Rider, a 2018 Triumph Street Scrambler and a Suzuki DR125 "project".

I think the KZ and the Triumph will get most of my time.

Welcome to the forum. The KZ650s are great bikes.
Your story is familiar to a lot of us. I had a GPz in college then got respectable for a while with wife, job and family. I was still doing the MX thing and then saw a 1982 GPz750 on eBay and did an impulse bid and well, here we are.
Make sure you post some pics.

You have quite the herd of vehicles.

Took the KZ for a little run today..very nice. The PO did a nice job with it. The carbs need a little work and probably a synchro check. The PO rebuilt them but it's running a little rough and smoky.
