Hello. The 81 kz is a great first bike. If you are airing up the forks as mentioned be cautious. Very little psi is more than enough to pop the seals. I use just a few lbs. Initially the air would not hold. If that's a problem that surfaces and you would like for it to hold try replacing the valve cores. Worked for me. Very happy with it. Congratulations and welcome.

Welcome and congrats to joining the motorcycle and Kawasaki riders! First bike? Go gentle on the throttle. Motorcycle training classes are great things for the experience and insurance rate savings perhaps. Looks like you got a bike in good shape. Caution! Motorcycling is addictive! One bike can lead to the need for more bikes! The ride will never be long enough! Enjoy!

I don't have a plan and I'm sticken' to it! '77 KZ 650 / 750 GPz custom project in progress

if you look in the background you can see the proof, a friend who has 7 bikes loaned me an extra shadow out of his collection until the kz is all legal.
I took a course it was helpful and gave me a insurance break.
I went with 10psi in the forks im glad I asked about that they go up 10psi/pump.

You are welcome. There is a ton of information on is site, and a lot of years of experience among the members.
The Clymer manual is certainly better than no manual, but they tend to cover a bunch of years and models in each book without always noting the differences in the text. The factory manuals are very model specific, so you can have good info on all the peculiarities of your motorcycle.
