New guy in New Hampshire

Hi folks! New guy here in New Hampshire USA. Hoping to share love of 2 wheels with fellow enthusiasts. Working on a '78 KZ1000 LTD with some issues. Pic is of bike as I got it.

The LTD does actually have it's bodywork, I had already stripped it off to start a "refresh". When I got it (from a family friend) it had had the entire front end stripped off it, right down to the steering neck bearings. Wiring and clutch cable had been cut to aid it's removal (WHY????- I don't know)
Front end was found in a separate building, minus the triple trees. So what you see here is the front end restored back after I sourced a set of good triple trees, plus taper roller bearings in the neck. I've since had it stripped down and repainted the frame with epoxy paint, refinished the wheels and rebuilt the brakes complete. Will get a pic snapped and post that up for comparison. Not going to be a hot-rod, just want to get it back in shape for now.

People do the most ridiculous things to machines. Props to you for putting it right.

I've got the same year LTD in VT. I just can't resist taking this project bike on for this winter especially since winter has just shown it's teeth. Where are you at on the project?

Had stripped the bike down to the frame and gave it an epoxy paint job after lots of hand-sanding & soda blasting. Cleaned up/repainted the wheels, rebuilt the forks, new taper rollers in the neck. No engine work -yet. Waiting to see how it sounds once I get the carbs sorted. Overflow tubes were leaking on a couple. Going to start a thread for that to share my solution.

Have a complete set of painted tin in "passable for a rider" OEM livery if you need it.

I'll keep that in mind. Everything looks good on this one except for the rear fender. I bought this one for $700 sometime after I bought a 76 900 for $70 and because that one is all apart already it just makes sense to go ahead with that one first. The 900 started right up after it sat in someone's yard for a few years.

Logic usually comes first with me.

I saw your carb post and I'll be scrutinizing all the carbs that I own (4 complete sets) as per your findings as well as with all the great info on this site.
