KZ900B

Hello, I am new to the site and also new to owning a 1976 KZ900B LTD, My plan is to clean it up and get it running smooth and possibly sell it to get a kz750 or something smaller.
It was sitting in the back of a friends garage and was owned by his landlord. The landlord was happy to part with it since it was last on the road in 2006. It needs some TLC and any info or tips anyone has for me I would be all ears.

Nice save. It looks like a pretty complete bike. Having been stored inside will have saved you some grief and money.
First, I'd recommend getting a genuine Kawasaki factory service manual for your speciific year and model. There may be a link to a downloadable manual on the main page of this website. If not, then you may be able to snag one on eBay. Once you have it, flip to the routine maintenance section and perform all the recommended procedures and checks. This will insure that all the basic components and systems are up to snuff.
Based on the pics, I'd say you will most certainly need new tires and a complete fork servicing, including new fork seals.
You will also need some specific tools like JIS screwdrivers (or modified Phillips - those cross head screws you see are NOT Phillps), some appropriate feeler guages (metric are best, but SAE will do). You may also end up needing a small torque wrench that measures inch-pounds.
There are a bunch of helpful and experienced folk here, don't be afraid to ask questions.

Looks like a clone of my bike. Just a matter of doing the maintenance and small repairs as mentioned and some polishing. Maybe replace a few parts back to stock, if that is your intention. Congratulations and good luck.
