New KZ650 Owner

Well,

I've had her for a while, now. I made the purchase about a year ago, because it was a great deal, and I wanted a project bike.

Now, the time is aproaching to start the restoration, and I thought I'd seek out a forum for KZ owners.

I have a 1981 KZ650. Or, rather, the parts to a 1981 KZ 650. I intend to completely restore the bike, inside and out, and give it some minor custom touches along the way. I'm probably going to be in for more than the value of the bike, here, but I think it will be a great learning experience.

I thought it would be nice to be able to discuss any more major issues I run into with some more like-minded people along the way, and perhaps just enjoy the discussions.

You've definately found the place for all things KZ.
Your garage/workspace is way to organized and tidy though. Give it time, you'll have KZ parts scattered all over the place and taking up space on every one of those shelves! :laugh:

Most of us that have either restored to orignal or customized our bikes have waaaay more into them than they're actually worth. It boils done to doing it yourself and the experience you gain, (and in the way YOU want it) that makes the end product all worth the time, money and effort.

Don't forget to add your location and bike specs into your sigline.
This way you won't have to explain to others what year and model KZ you have anytime you have a question on it.

yep, the 650 is a good bike. they made tons of them so parts are easy enough to find.

kennith...welcome to KZR...I need to know where you live (as you have enough room in your garage so I'm going to start working on my bikes at your place...). It is part of the price of being a member of KZR...

It isn't as big as it looks, and I'm not done getting it quite right yet. I still want to put in a big fan, and a real heater for the winter. It's been a project.

Right now, my only running Kawasaki is taking up quite a bit of it, anyway. I've got a Mule shoved in there. Getting that is actually what motivated me to commit to beginning the restoration. There is just something about a Kawasaki motor. I'm a bike beginner, though, so please bear with me on the site. I've never been on a motorcycle. I just get the feeling I'll really enjoy riding a motorcycle.





That's the rest of the garage. I use the pad outside for cars, as they get things cramped a bit inside. Inside is Kawasaki territory now.:evil:

No Way man! Thats not real, it's a Hollywierd set! My garage was condemmed last year and this year made the superfund site for toxicicity! How do you find anything? :woohoo: Welcome! Yeah, one downside to having a shop like that.

Instead of living in a big nice house, I live in an apartment I fixed up inside a steel building.:lol:

Great for wrenching, not so great for dating.

For the record, right now, I am greasy, I smell of petrol, sweat, and whatever that was I just found under the seat if my truck. I've been in and out getting ready to move some furniture a ways off, so I have been doing some maintanance.

Well, I'm off. It's already going to be dark by the time I get there.
