Hey everyone! My name's mike, I'm from Massachusetts, and i just picked up a 75 kz400 for a whopping $50. I don't know much about these bikes (anything), so i'm hoping to learn a few things from you guys and girls.

Welcome! Looks like ya got a project there ;)
You will be able to find some info in the archives on the KZ400. We have a few members that have them and might be willing to help ya get started.

Good luck :)

Yeah, I know:) . And I promised myself I wouldn't start another one 'till this one was done. But how could I pass up a deal like this?

not yet. It's been sitting since '97. All ive done so far is pull off the carbs, broke them down, and have them soaking in cleaner. I ordered a service manual from a dealer. So I'm going to wait till i have that in my hands before i really tear into it.
My main goal is to get it to run, drive, and stop safley for now. When my trucks done I'll worry about body work, shiney paint, and a few little modifications here and there.

Hey Zero, welcome. Looks like you got the photo posting routine down no problem. That bike will be a good project, keep us posted on progress.
I'm in NH now but lived in Maynard way back in the late '70s, fun town back then.:P

Howdy zero,

I like your strategy, I'm still on the "getting it to run perfectly" before I deal with the cosmetics parts, I still have mismatched side panels on my 75 400.
