Hey my name is Drake and I live in Columbia Missouri.


My brother-in-law just gave me his 1981 Kawasaki kz440 ltd

It's been mechanically refurbished all around, but now it just needs cosmetics(rusty bolts, paint, cleaning)

Anywho. If anyone is local to me let me know.

nice score to have one given to you! now, how about some pictures??? it is mandatory around here that you post pictures!! :laugh:

be sure to check out the gallery to get ideas for your paint...and other little tidbits to make it yours and yours alone.

oh yeah, one other little note - go to your profile and add a signature line with your location and bike year and model. Helps tremendously...

I have the gas tank off because I am repainting it. I am going to repaint alot of the bike and refurbish things. Nothing crazy. I want to keep the costs down and make it look nice.

Welcome to KZR. That looks like a pretty good bike for free! I would suggest going through the bike slowly and methodically; cleaning, degreasing, and shining up parts and pieces a few at a time. Make notes and/ or take pictures when you are pulling stuff off, it is easy to get screwed up when it is time to put it all together! It is a good time to get aquainted with your new ride and look for any problems. Have fun!
