Hello!!

First off, Awesome site. Loaded with info.

ME and my BIKES:
32yr old lover of bikes. I have had a Suzuki 50 Dirtbike when I was 5, a Honda Enduro 100 in middleschool, a Honda GL1100 in in highschool, a 79 Suzuki GS750 back in 2002, and still have my 1986 Honda Fourtrax, Now I have an 81 KAW KZ1000 LTD 18k miles that I got from a buddy.

This kz1000k ltd needed some cleanup. Jets were plugged, vacuum line missing from one of the carbs. Got all that fixed and bike is running but I have to finish tuning the carbs. It is revving up after a blip on the throttle. I did notice that the mixture screws are all at different heights on the carbs!!

We just replaced the head gasket on it as it was seeping a little bit of oil.

Man I hate these rubber tubes for the airbox.. will new ones be really easy to put on with the carbs? or will they be stiff just like the ones i got.

Hope to do the mixture screws and build my own synch board to finish my tuneup.

thanks!

I just finished putting new float needle valves in my brothers 82 KZ1000 CSR (pretty much the same bike), and I insisted that he buy new carb to airbox boots before I'd do it. The last time I had those carbs off it took me five hours to get those boots back on, with the new boots it took me a half hour. :)

The tails on these kz'S I see some have a body type tail. Mine only has the chrome fender. Will one fit on mine?

thanks

Well went out to work on the bike today.. had carbs off still. Went looking at the idle mixture screws and they were set
1=1.5 turns out
2=4.5 turns out
3=6.5 turns out
4=6.5 turns out

I put them all at 1.5 turns out and fought those airbox tubes, then started it up and WOW what a difference :)

I tried to start the bike and do some adjusting on the idle mixture screws and really could not tell a difference.

Brought it home and drove it around the neigborhood and feel that it is idling rough. it is kinda poppin.

I am borrowing a "carb stick" tomorrow , not sure it will help much.

Any idea's I guess i will need to start me a thread in Carbs.

thanks

The new ones will be nice and pliable and not too hard to work with. It really is a losing battle to fiht with them once they harden.
