First off, what a cool site! I'm so glad I found it. Congrats and job well done to everyone that keeps this up and running.

Second, a little about me. I live in Oklahoma City, OK and just bought my first kz...a 1978 1000. It's not in the best shape at the moment but that's half the fun. I started off on sport bikes a number of years ago before crossing over to a Honda Shadow most recently. After getting tired of wanting more power and dragging foot pegs all over town, I started looking again. I got turned off by the big stretched out cruisers that lack fun-factor and by the impracticle nature of the newer sport bikes. That led to my new found appreciation of the street fighters of the 1970's and 1980's (cb750's, the kz's, etc.). I'm looking forward to fixing it up a putting a million miles on it.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here...

Welcome to KZr Geoff.

You're not the first to fall under the spell of a KZ.
In fact, all of us here obviously have.
Word of caution though, the KZ's tend to have the innate ability to procreate. Next thing you know you've got half a dozen of them in your garage, and you're staying up late into the night scanning eBay for parts and other goodies to satiate their appetite.

Oh, and don't forget to post some pics of your KZ. :)

Howdy neighbor, and welcome! How close is your bike to being on the road? You should join us on Thursdays for Family Bike Night. We meet at the Albertson's at SE 29th and Sunnylane, then group ride to some restaurant or other. There are several of us from KZR in the group, as well as a good mix of other motorcycles and even some scooters. One guy brings either his Suzuki GT750 "water buffalo" or a really, really nice CBX with a six into six exhaust!

Welcome aboard, Geoff.

Years back I stomped around OKC (mostly work related) and met a lot of friendly folks there. There are quite a group of KZR members local to you so you should have access to a lot of local friendly help.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I'll probably need some help on this one. I'll also post some pics (before & after) here soon.

Nice. I'm a north-sider, but would like to come out and see you when I get ready...if just to see your bike and that CBX.

My kz runs, but not well unless your on the throttle. I took it out today for a little bit. It was a lot of fun, but also made me realize that I've got a lot of work to do. It currently dies every time I let off the throttle, and one of the plastic side panels flew off at one point (I've already got new ones on order...so you may see it laying around somewhere).

It goes into the shop in a few weeks for a look at the carbs/jetting and other critical areas. The owner before me has done a lot of "interesting" modifications and maintenance work (you know...JB Weld, bailing wire, not-quite-fitting bolts, etc.), but I plan on getting out on it as soon as I'm sure it's safe. Even with all its challenges, I'm in love with this one.

See you soon...hopefully.

Welcome to KZR from Mustang, America. The Thursday Night ride this week is going to be to Tater's here in Mustang. You just as well come on out, check out some of the bikes and meet some of the other locals that suffer from this obsession with KZs and old bikes. It's kind of like a support group. I hope to see ya there.

Now these KZR guys you need to watch close. Before I started lurking around here I was a real nice guy with an old KZ900. Then I got to looking at some of the bikes these guys have. And like stated above the next thing you know you've got a garage full of the things and a stack of parts you may or may never use.

Thanks, Kent. Yep, I'm at about Council & Hefner Rd. I'd like to see your KZ and get your assessment/recommendations on mine before it goes in for work. By "Bike Night," I'm assuming you mean up at Joe's, right? I'll try to make it Thursday, but I have to say it may be a little embarrasing in the condition I'm in at the moment...but I'll get over it.

Thanks again and let me know...
