first bike - 1976 KZ750

Hey everyone,

Just bought my first road bike. It's had some mod's in the past, color change, different bars etc...

It has sat for about 4 years, and I bought it having never heard it run. I wanted to know the best way to prep the bike and clean it up. It will be sitting for a couple more months, what do I do in order to get it ready to sit some more?!

My plans (after getting the mechanical done) is getting the paint redone from orange to a flat dark green. Drag/Cafe style bars, and then thats it.

#1 - Change the oil and filter.

#2 - Check all the fuel system: tank, lines, filters, carbs, and clean as needed.

That's probably all you need to do to get it started, but getting it road-worthy is a bigger task...

The carbs will be your bigest issue. Either get ready to spend some time learning to clean them or find some one who knows. Other then that its gravey.

Welcome. Nice looking bike.

Welocome to the fun.
The 750 is a nice bike. Great for your first time out. You can make it look fast, but it won't tear up the road anytime soon. Solid engine though.

My 78 B3 has been great to me so far.
