Hi, I just joined. I'm a young 60 year old and have been riding since 1958. I was a M/C Officer until I got hurt while code 3 in 1994. My first new Kaw was an '82 GPZ550. I kept it until 1994. What a bike! Now I own a '81 KZ1100A shaft with 19000 miles and a 2005 ZZR1200 blue with 9 miles. I'm recovering from 2nd. back surgery. I live in the mountains of Arizona and enjoy my horse, ultralight airplanes, people, traveling, shooting and when my back heals up - hiking, riding my motorcycles and horse, dancing and staying fit.:) :)

Hey Kodiak,
Welcome to KZR. An 05 ZZR1200 with 9 miles! OH! OH! I better come down and help you with that one. ;)

I happen to have an 82 1100 Spectre, that's pretty close to your KZ isn't it?

Ive been riding Kaws since 1973, first one was an H1, wish I still had it. My second one was a KZ900 which I still have. I come to Tucson pretty often, you any where near there?

Hope you heal up quickly!

Bill

Hi Bill, Thanx' for the response. Yes your Spectre is very close to mine. I believe other than the paint, color treatment of the engine and wheels and the handlebars they are the same. My accident happened in Tucson where I used to live. I live up in Payson now but may move back. Hee Hee, my 37 year old son tried to help me by offering to put some miles on my zzr1200 and he didn't get very far either! Oh well, he tried. David PS: My bike doesn't have the backrest that your's does or came with.

Hey "KG", Thanx' for the welcome and the healing wishes. My accident happened in Tucson 19 Sep 1994 on E. Ft. Lowell Rd. I live in Payson now, actually Star Valley just east of Payson on Hwy 260. But, I'm giving some thought to moving back to Tucson. I grew up there and have a lot of friends there. In fact my KZ1100 is stored in a friend's garage in Tucson. The ZZR1200 I bought new in Tucson in Dec 2004, had the dealer deliver it on a trailer and other than the miles that the chief mechanic put on it after the make ready, it hasn't been ridden. Hopefully it won't be too much longer. That bike has a lot of potential! David
