Hi everyone. I’m very glad to have found this site! There's no better source of information then a site like this. So in advance, I'd like to say a huge Thank You to those who started and maintain this site as well as you have & will contribute your knowledge and experience!!

I just started refurbishing a 1976 KZ900?? I’m not sure what flavor of KZ it is, so feel free to pass on any thoughts you have while I search this site and that of Kawasaki. I can’t read the S/N as the sticker is worn away, but the neck is stamped with the ID of:
KZ T00B-513427 and the engine with Z1E 089038. It's really one bike put together from two that were involved in a crash (no deaths thankfully). It was my brother’s bike and when he died in 1985, the bike was put in storage and remained there for 20+ years. I want to refurb the bike for me but also as a tribute to him as he loved riding and working on it. He could take a bike apart and put it together blindfolded, so I only hope I can do him proud.

About 10 years ago, I removed the carb and cleaned it completely (lots of varnish). Also, I took it to a local shop and they got the engine running well after I had them install an electronic ignition, new fluids & filter. I'm quite sure there are going to be things popping up once I put some miles on it. But with my manual, your help and some guidance from my brother above, I should be fine.

Here’s what it looks like now………… a few more small things & new paint and it should be ready for the road. Wish me luck & thanks again!! Steve in WI

Welcome Steve! You're right, it is a bit of a Frankenbike...I have one of those too! The frame is a 1978 KZ1000B2 (LTD) and the motor is a 1976 KZ900. Pewaukee, eh? I grew up in Pewaukee many years ago...lived in a lake front house on the south side of the lake...it was a great place to live...fished every day.:)
