Hello to all, It was suggested to me that I make a post/shout-out to any and all Pacific North West members, I am in Port Angeles WA (98363), planning a move to Portland very soon, but I wanted to ask if there are any other P N W people here....
I am currently attempting to ride a 82 kz1100 shafty, I have an 85 zl900. but this KZ I think would be a more viable road machine than the zl, I dont know anything about the KZ I dont have a clue what to expect as to how it should run, I am hopeing it is long legged as I would like to ride it to Montana and then down to the grand canyon and back.

Hey Rick,

Welcome to KZR!

I'm here in Central Oregon, Bend to be specific. When you move to Ptown you'll only be three hours away from the dry country. I'm the chapter director of the Cascade Range Riders. Check us out on Yahoo ( for now ). Search for cascaderangeriders in the groups section.

Any how, KZR is the place for info on these old KZ's. Lotta experience here. Take advantage of it.

Well after an exhausting trial and error I managed to get this 82 shafty 1100 running too what I would say is road worthy, I put approx 150 miles on it as a shakedown ~still have some wireing issues~and valves need adjusted but what an odd ride, being a Kawasaki guy and owning an 85zl-900 Eliminator, this thing is just odd, gobs of power, real long legged, when I say odd I meen it is like cadilac fast, ya know? at a stop light a 69 chevelle may make more noise but a good running 69 caddy may not make as much noise but it damn sure can get to the next stop light in a real hurry. I think bang for buck ~I have spent ZERO DOLLARS! on this~ my "eliminator" wouldnt brag too much about beating it in a "dash" and this KZ would surely give it a HUGE run for its money, anything past a 1/4 mile this KZ FLIES~~~~~~~~ now to attempt a valve adjustment.
