Alright I picked up a 1979 KZ 650 this summer (at least I think) and i cannot find out what is really is because when i look on this site at the specs for a 1979 KZ 650 all of them are air cooled(mine is liquid). Plus mine plastics say that it is a LTD but there is not one in 1979. If anyone knows anything about this, please help. Oh and what is there for upgrades on this KZ and where can I find them.
Thanks Nathan

Here are some links to photos of the bike.

Welcome.

Looks like a '79 KZ650D (SR) with LTD side covers and seat maybe. What is the VIN #?
Also, that's an Oil Cooler on there, to help keep oil temps down, but still an Air cooled bike. B)

Here's the last pic from above:

I am not sure what the VIN is because it is back at home, I will try and find out. I am at Michigan Tech. while my bike is 500 miles away in Highland,MI. Now when i got it the guy said that it needed ignition coils is that a common part to go? Plus what do u do for hp upgrades?

Yep. But it's not always the *coil* itself. Sometimes it's the coil wires or spark plug caps, which are all connected together. Many people have done things like replacing the caps, or snipping a half-inch from the end of the wires, or replacing the wires, or replacing the whole coil(s) with new ones...
